International Society of Arboriculture, Champaign IL – Director of Credentialing 2014 – December 2018

Director of Credentialing responsible for providing the direction and oversight of an internationally recognized ANSI/ISO accredited portfolio of professional credentials and programs. Reporting to the Executive Director, and leading a team of 9 employees, responsibilities include translating organization and board directed goals into a global credentialing strategy and solution focused on enhancing the professional image of the more than 44,000 credential holders worldwide.

  • A member of the ISA Executive Team including interaction with the ISA Board of Directors and the strategic planning and budget development process for the organization and department
  • Identification and implementation of key process improvements that decreased expenses by 7% while increasing revenue 22% year over year
  • Contract negotiation, development, and implementation of a third party off-site international printing solution which saved 20% of internal labor costs per year

Progressive levels of managerial positions held which included being responsible for recruiting, training, and supervising team members focused on delivering a great customer experience and operational excellence. Was responsible for all aspects of human resources including sourcing, hiring, continued development, performance improvement, and coaching. Specific position held with FedEx Office include:

        Interim District Manager – Nashville, TN January 2014 – July 2014

  • Completed an extensive review of the existing team of 150 employees and implemented opportunities resulting in operational changes and improved operational compliance
  • Prepared the district for the incoming District Manager which included sourcing and hiring necessary team members and ensuring district standard operational procedures were in place

        Senior Center Manager – Champaign, IL October 2010 – January 2014

  • Direct responsibility for two retail centers located in Champaign, IL and indirect responsibility for 2 retail centers located in Bloomington, IL and Peoria, IL which including 50 full time and part time employees
  • Increased key revenue growth by 25% through effective training and development of staff
  • Evaluated center expenses and implementing cost savings initiatives to help drive a 5% increase in profitability among all locations
  • Improved overall center standard operating procedure audit performance by 18% and sustained the highest levels of compliance in the district and region

  • Responsible for 2 retail centers in Champaign, IL including 20 full time and part time employees
  • Assisted with the implementation of necessary processes and procedures required during the acquisition of Kinkos by FedEx in the fall of 2003
  • Implemented and trained employees in 2 locations on newly developed packing and shipping procedures

      Center Manager – Lafayette, IN October 2003 – October 2004

  • Responsible for a retail center in Lafayette, IN including 10 full time and part time employees
  • Implemented necessary process improvements to ensure budgetary goals were exceeded
  • Developed a district wide metric dashboard that was implemented to effectively communicate and update the performance of the 10 centers in the district
  • Was promoted to Senior Center Manager in Champaign, IL within 12 months of joining FedEx
  • Provided district oversight and direction to an internal sales team which consisted of 10 sales associates responsible for building effective local relationships with a goal of exceeding center revenue

Bowne Business Solutions, New York, NY – National Customer Service Manager 2000 – 2003

National Customer Service Manager responsible for the successful operation of eight print centers across the United States. Directed a team of 8 Center Managers to ensure contractual obligations were exceeded while proper internal controls were being followed, developed, and maintained.

  • Developed and executed a print production model which ensured overall profitable process improvement
  • Improved overall efficiency and profitability by 25% and helped paved the way for a contract renewal with Bear Stearns that included overseeing the implementation of three new print centers in New York City
  • Developed and presented a monthly status update that was delivered to the executive team and contract holders to communicate service level attainment and overall contractual obligations
  • Received the Shining Star Award for Team Member Retention while managing the largest print contract for Bowne Business Solutions with Morgan Stanley

Xerox Business Solutions, Indianapolis, IN – Client Services Manager 1998 – 2000

Client Services Manager leading 25 employees at three different print centers supporting the Global Headquarters for Eli Lilly and Company. Responsible for printing and quality control of all materials and submissions to the FDA. Met with key executives daily to provide production updates, quality issue resolution, and overall team performance against contractual obligations. Directed the daily production process while identifying and implementing any process improvement opportunities.

  • Assisted in negotiations to renew the Xerox contract with Eli Lilly for an additional five years
  • Implemented overall cost savings initiatives that ensured the contract remained profitable
  • Was responsible for staffing all positions within the three print centers

Galyans Trading Company, Plainfield, IN – Department Manager 1996 – 1998

Department Manager responsible for the fitness and recreation department in a $10 million annual retail sporting goods store. Responsibilities included ensuring an outstanding customer experience was always provided by maintaining proper staffing levels with motivated and knowledgeable employees who could provide unique solutions to our clients.
